Ah, the Welsh. A passionate race of Celtic bards, songsters and rugby-loving, beer-swilling, English-hating maniacs. Did you know Twin Town was a toned-down documentary? At least that’s what us English have been lead to believe. Most Welshies would probably concede to being part of a slightly mad race, but we admire them, because in the hunt for decent surf their stories are second to none.
ROYAL FLUSH
Editorial assistant Barber had been back in the country for more than a week. He needed a break. And where better to go than his favourite party zone, Playa de las Americas in Tenerife, where a blinkin’ great wavepool had just been completed. Hell, he could just roll off his sunbed right into the lineup without the even having to paddle. We should apologise to Luis Eyre and Josh Piper’s mothers for the sordid drunken shenanigans they must have witnessed. Still, at at least they came back chlorinated.
PLAY YOUR CARDS RIGHT
What a crew, what a crew. If ever there was a mischievous pack to send off on a random mission to the heart of Mexico, it was Capel, Wake, Hughes and Skilton. Armed with a pack of cards that would determine their fate, off they went to seek adventure, enlightenment, and possibly an encounter with a surly serial killer in a dark Mexican jail. Here are their tales…the ones we could print anyway.
CYCLONE SEASON
The best Kirra for a decade, the best West Oz for, well, a coupla months at least, and a host of Brits basking in the 30° heat. Yes, Australia was one of the finest places to be on planet earth in March and April. We salute the all-time swells in all their luxurious corduroy perfection.
COME FLY WITH ME

That done, all we had to do was track down Britain’s best shapers and board salesmen, and get the lowdown on how you can find your perfect board. Now you can enjoy the pictures and educate yourself at the same time! Perfect!
