Ever fancied dropping everything and chasing your dreams to Africa? Brett Davies did. Shunning a tidy job in the European surf industry he’s making a new life for himself in Ghana. This is his story.
SERENDIB DREAMING
There’s something magical about Sri Lanka, maybe it’s the abundant wildlife – you can’t go five minutes without seeing a peacock, elephant or monkey. Maybe it’s the relaxed pace of life and warm people. Or maybe it’s just the super-fun, sand-bottom pointbreaks that just ask you to wail on them… Whatever the UK pro tour was there in early July for a speciality event and we were there documenting the hell out of it.

Mac, The MacDaddy, The Mac-O-Tron, The Macmeister, he goes by many names but one thing is certain John McCarthy loves surfing. His whole life revolves around it in one way and another and we sent Mickey Smith to document the man whose positive energy lights up Co Clare.
PRENDRE LE TAUREAU PAR LES CORNES
Cain Kilcullen, Matty Capel, Gabe Davies collide head on with a Welsh stag do in full swing in Hossegor. A hilarious tale from Will Bailey that will make you really glad you weren’t either a) involved or b) on the same ferry.
ODE TO THE DAWNY
What’s the story morning glory? Well, this is, being as it is, a story about morning glory. Waking up at the crack of dawn is a crude pun and also a fitting thing to celebrate as it’s one of surfing’s most fundamental acts. Getting up hours before the rest of the world stirs to get some choice uncrowded waves. This was a little article about one Kernow session that’s snowballed into something bigger as it’s such a universal concept.
SLABTOWN
James Hick (him off of the cover of two issues ago) is a maniac. That’s right a bona fide loon. He must be. Cos surfing these death kegs with such aplomb is not the behaviour of a sane, rational man. The lift ain’t going to the top floor with this kid fersure, anyhoose, all we can do is watch and admire as Hicky traverses the planets most terrifying wave arenas. This time he’s somewhere in South Oz…
