‘FLOWRIDER™’ PUTS MERTON HOTEL ON THE CREST OF A WAVE
| Seymour Hotels has announced the creation of a major new £1 million attraction at the Merton Hotel. The Flowrider™ is a stationary wave that allows riders to emulate the manoeuvres of other board sports. |
 |
Designed and created in America, the Flowrider™ wave will be the first to be built in the UK, and the first of its type in Europe to be located within a hotel complex. The attraction will be built adjacent to the Aquadome and will be available only to hotel guests and members of the Merton Leisure Club, together with guests of the other two Seymour Hotels.

‘Flowboarding’ is a sport that combines the look of surfing, the ride of snowboarding and the tricks of skateboarding. The Flowrider™ sends a thin sheet of water up a sloped and cushioned platform to create a wavelike flow of water. Anyone can ride, from beginners to advanced surfers. |
Announcing the development, Managing Director Seymour Hotels, David Seymour said, “The Merton Hotel has always been at the forefront of developing new hotel leisure facilities. We are really excited about the arrival of the new Flowrider™, which we believe will appeal to a whole new group of potential Jersey visitors. Investment of this nature is essential in providing our customers with new experiences and securing the Merton Hotel’s position as Jersey’s favourite family hotel.”
The attraction is scheduled to open in April 2008, when the Merton Hotel re-opens for the season.
