Team Great Britain is currently on its way back from Peru where they put on a strong performance at this years World Masters Surfing Championships. Most teams at the event had 8 but team Great Britain consisted of only four including, Jed Stone for the Grand Kahunas category, Clayton Lidster and Jesse Davies for the Masters event and Johnny Carden for the Grand Masters category.
The Grand Kahunas category represents surfers over 50 years of age, and Newquay man Jed Stone came an impressive 5th beating the highly rated Bazilian and Tahitian surfers. In the Masters, which includes anyone over 35 years old, Clayton Lidster came 15th closely followed by Jesse Davies who came 17th. Johnny Carden came 11th in the Grand Masters category which includes surfers aged 40 plus.
Team South Africa claimed the top spot followed by Australia in second place and Brazil finishing third.
Karen Walton, National Director of the British Surfing Association said, “we’re extremely proud of the efforts of our four men in the masters team. For Jed to come fifth in the world is an amazing achievement and it’s great to see British Surfers of this age out there and competing on a global platform. We owe a big thank you to Headworx for providing all the team kit.”
