surfstock Lineup released

surfstockSurfstock Festival 2008
29-30 August
St Agnes, Cornwall

Men, Women, Waves, Wine and Song.
Surfstock is back for 2008 at a new, bigger location in St Agnes with a stellar lineup including The Gossip, Supergrass, the Go! Team and The Likes. Six thousand revellers will enjoy over 60 live acts on four stages from 29-30 August.

Surfing is central to the festival and this year Surfstock will host the Cult Energy Drink Tag Team Surf Challenge and Tow-At Challenge; the £10,000 prize purse (the largest in the UK) is set to attract over a thousand competitors to Porthtowan beach.

This year’s festival also includes the first annual Surfstock H30 British Big Wave Awards in association with CARVE magazine. The Awards will showcase the best of insane, boundary-breaking surfing in the UK and Ireland, with six categories and £3500 prize money. Surfstock ticket holders will vote for the Surfer Of The Year and Photo Of The Year.

Other attractions include Silent Disco, a fancy dress day, the Silver Surfer, eight food stalls including an American diner, a trader’s market, chill out areas and some very special surprises… Press Play will be running the Cornish Cream tent showcasing the best of local music talent, and Music Evolution also have their own tent. There is a 4am music licence. skinner's

Surfstock will aim to reduce its carbon footprint and impact on the local area by providing free shuttle buses to the beach and back all day as well as organising car-sharing. Precautions against bad weather have been taken; the festival is well sited with excellent drainage and there will be plenty of shelter in case of rain.

The festival’s official charity is Love Music Hate Racism.

“A mixture of surf events by day and quality music and entertainment is how Surfstock has built its reputation as one of the best festivals Cornwall has to offer.” —BBC Review.
