Matt Capel, Mark ‘Egor’ Harris and Mitch Corbett have been pioneering a previously unsurfed British super-slab they call ‘Number 10’. The trio have all had “The best waves of our lives” at an undisclosed location over the past few days.
“It’s insane,” Egor said. “It’s like West Oz or something. One local charger told us he had been checking it for a while now; all the locals thought it was unsurfable, but it’s sick. The lads are just charging — Matt’s been getting super-shacked and I towed Mitch into one the other day which was triple over head and insane! I’ve been calling him Mitch Aikau-bert ever since!”
The lads headed to the area after the AXL/DOH Pro in Wales and have been there ever since, frothing on their find.
CARVE photographer Will Bailey put it simply: “It’s mental. The lads are just getting so pitted. It’s the best wave I’ve ever seen. We've been checking this spot for the past year. CARVE have published a few empty shots I took of it in the past; we knew it had loads of potential, but we've had no way of riding the beast. Matt, Egor and Mitch were up here with a ski and yesterday everything came together and it went bonkers!"
