BBC SURVEY

The British Bodyboard Club is attempting to undertake the largest survey of the UK bodyboarding public ever made.  With bodyboarding increasing in popularity we want to understand your opinions, spending habits and perspectives on our sport; so that we can use that information to inform the decisions we make and the companies we target for support.

All responses will be held in the strictest confidence and they can be anonymous if you wish.  However, we would ask that you complete the survey as fully as possible.  All data held is covered by the BBC’s data protection policy.  No information will be disclosed to 3rd parties outside of the BBC/BSA.  Summary results may be published in ThreeSixty magazine but no individual responses will be credited.

You can request an electronic copy from rich@britishbodyboardclub.co.uk or log on to www.britishbodyboardclub.co.uk to download it.

Smith & Williamson Solomon Hare British Bodyboarding Championships Unfinished – Will be Completed on Either 3rd or 4th of November

Unfortunately, due to dying surf on the Sunday, The British Bodyboard Championships were only partially completed at Porthtowan last weekend. But, as with the Animal British Cup in Newquay, Saturday saw a great day of action. Lord Jago Found Dead
AN ECCENTRIC, party-loving aristocrat who once represented Britain in bodyboarding has been found dead in his bath. 40-year-old Lord Jago Eliot was heir to the 6,000-acre Port Eliot estate in St Germans, Cornwall. In his prime as a bodyboarder Lord Jago won first place in the Spanish national bodyboard championships and a ticket to the world championships in Hawaii, where he represented the UK and came 17th out of 96 entrants - the highest-placed European. The Chinaski Effect EP

More booger noise - we'll have to start a Music page soon. Check out these tunes, eloquently reviewed by the suave Jonny Roberts.

Track 1 - This stomping opener roars into life underlining The Effect's intentions for this EP. The lyrics seem to convey a hindsight developed in the aftermath of a certain grizzly encounter. There's a strong sense of realisation in the lead's lyrics while the timing of the rest of the band is tight. chinaski effect

Track 2 - The double-time drums and introduction of bass guitar spawn a rich instrumental break and with the integration of heavier guitars it all becomes complete. What you're dealing with is a tasty morsel overlaid with solid vocals.

Track 3 - Begins with a thoughtful melodic guitar sequence creating a moment of contemplation for the listener. Vocals are layered on top like aromatic onion gravy on top of a bed of creamy mashed potato, then gradually momentum works its way through the spine of the track and finally explodes into thrashed-up break with furious drumming and more strong vocals.

Track 4 - Begins with a bit of 'burglars in ya garden' bass which in turn evolves into a super-nice tempo with Chinaski's lead vocals strewn beautifully across what is a truly affecting slice of composition with Nirvana Unplugged qualities.

Track 5 - This is a devil woman at work here as the lead pours out his pain at being scorched by a thorn-wrapped angel. This is a highly-charged track bearing rock solid guitars, though it is the lyrics that draws one in on this particular number as Chinaski exclaims, "The Midas touch I was giving her, shame this seemed to fall short of her demands."

Track 6 - The final song from the EP and the guys show no signs of easing up. They wrap things up in fine style with the lead's final sentiments backed up by a crescendo of clattering metal putting the final touch to a very nutritious 'ear snack, if you care to try'.

Bugga!

Making a bit of a noise on the gig circuit are Cornish band Bugga. Jonny Roberts grabbed a few of their tracks off the website at www.bugga.co.uk and had a listen. Here's some thoughts:

Bugga - Crossdressing

Against the Grain - This is a killer track, seemingly simple it its creation with its swift drums and nimble bass guitar though the rhythm proceeds to suck you straight in. Inglis's lyrics are of worthy substance and his likeable tone blends nicely with this moddy-sounding number. Challenge the staus quo, don't just follow the flock, why not go your own way, 'against the grain,' the boys protest. Sick tune.

Supermodel - Supermodel tells in detail of a young sponger's plight growing up around Helston and the challenges that one encounters when trying to find yourself a good woman, preferably one minus the beard or one that's happened on a dental surgery at least once in the last decade. Inglis delivers a vivid accounts of his dream of a supermodel coating him in honey and licking him clean. For me Supermodel is a cry for help from our South Coast friends, clearly under strain from a severe lack of women bearing any signs of femininity. Classic.

Pasty Song - Some may have heard a version of this on the credits of Mickey's first flick, Redefyned, which I think is a slightly slower version, though all the raw ingredients are the same, these mainly being the ingredients of their beloved Cornish pasty. The boys are irate over the fraudulent pasty bakers around today who are dragging this Cornish tradition through the gutter, all for the sake of a few extra quid. Share in this scandal, unwrapped in the track simply entitled the Pasty Song. Bon appetite my handsome!

bugga me
