BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS

Expect blazing sunshine (temperatures around 28°C throughout the winter), fun quality waves, reggae on the radio and mellow vibes. The prime months are November to March, when low pressure systems are spinning off the Eastern seaboard of the US. Take a 6'0" fish and a 6'3" thruster. Hire a longboard on the small days. For supper you'll be having the best fish and seafood you've ever tasted at the Tamarind Club Restaurant, Josiah's Bay; or dining in style at one of the dozens of other plush eateries on the island. Stay at Sebastian's On The Beach, Apple Bay; luxury beachfront rooms overlooking the most consistant reef on the island. For t-shirts, wax and other gear, drop into HiHo Surf Shop in Road Town.
Make sure you bring a Visa card with a whopping credit limit. Don't miss the crazy full-moon party at the Bomba Shack, Apple Bay. If it's flat, take a ferry over to neighbouring Virgin Gorda and go snorkling at The Baths; it'll blow your mind. For further info get a Lonely Planet guide to The Caribbean, visit www.bvitouristboard.com and www.go-hiho.com.
