  surfgirl hotties
Okay, we know that in these ‘right on’ times we probably shouldn’t be doing this, but hey, it’s raining outside so what better way to pass the time! Our Hotties poll has been running on the SurfGirl website for a while and these fine upstanding surfers took your fancy, each making number one. We thought we’d put them up against each other to get the number one surfer of the year.

Joss Ash

English 2006 Champ, Joss is one of the best surfers in Britain as well as being a super chilled and nice guy. Living in Bude with his talented surfing family which includes his brother Reubyn, Joss says, "I surf every day there are waves and enjoy hanging out with my family and friends."

matt capel

Matt capel
Born: 1989
Home: Newton Abbot, Devon

Matt is without doubt the most exciting British surfer to emerge from the junior scene for many years.  Headworx’ freshest young rider has sickening amounts of natural talent, women hanging off both arms, and – despite burning the candle at every end – superhuman levels of energy and enthusiasm.  Matt pulls in when nobody else wants to, goes vertical every time, and takes the inevitable beatings with wreckless pleasure.

Matt has grown up in the water, learning to surf at the age of nine. In his ten years surfing, Matt has developed a truly unique style that reflects huge natural talent and total commitment. He’s also a bit of a nutter, taking on Teahupoo aged 17!  Watching him surf you never know what he’s gonna do next. A flick of the feet and BANG – he’s suddenly fully vertical.

Like most pro's Alan's been surfing from an early age. After moving down to Newquay from Kent at the age of six, Mrs Stokes booked her son in for a weeks surfing lesson. Of course he was a natural and soon has his own board and wetsuit and was in the water chasing waves at every oportunity. Alan's competition results speak for themselves, his dedication has won him every British title open to him.

In 2004 Stokesy spent more time in UK waters and was crowned overall BPSA an dBritish Champion. 2005 saw Stokesy win his 1st title when he was crowned English Champion.

How often do you wash your wetsuit after a surf?
(Be honest!)
Every time
Two out of three times
Maybe once a month
Only if I've peed in it!
Never
